Alhaurin el Grande is a town about 30 minutes from Malaga airport, located half hour inland between Malaga and Marbella. The town has stunning views over the Guadalhorce valley and is at the foot of the Sierra Mijas mountain.
Alhaurin el Grande is a vibrant typically Spanish town with a population of around 24,000. The locals often only speak spanish but are extremely friendly and will go out of their way to help you. Laila is located right on the edge of town, away from the hustle & bustle and yet just a 10 minute walk into the centre or 1 minute by car. There you will find numberous bars, restaurants and cafes, ranging from local to international cuisine. There are of course supermarkets, chemists and all sorts of shops here.

If you like mountain biking, you'll absolutely love it around Alhaurin. There's a multitiude of paths to choose from in the forest and mountain by Alhaurin.
The whole of the Guadalhorce valley is a banquet for mountain bike riders who come all year round.

Gibraltar - visit the apes, Windsor suspension bridge, St Michaels cave, the Great Siege Tunnels, the 11th century moorish castle, go on the Skywalk or to the top of the rock by cable car, and of course plent of shopping.
Ronda - visit the new bridge for amazing views, the bullring, the arab baths, Mondragon palace, medieval walls, Santa Maria la Mayor church or walk to the bottom of the gorge, a historians dream place.
Granada - known for grand examples of medieval architecture dating to the Moorish occupation. The No 1 attraction is the La Alhambra de Granada, a fortress and palace built on the holl of Granada.
Marbella & Puerto Banus - not too far to go for the shopping, nightlife, beaches or boats.
Mijas Pueblo - a beautiful white village just over 20 minutes away with plenty of pretty independent artisan and gift shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as donkey rides

If you like adventures, come here! A walkway built into the walls of the Gaitanes gorge, one of the biggest tourist attractions in Spain under an hour from Laila. Spectacular scenery, hiking, rock climbing and walks where it's best not to look down! Recommend to book first.
